Statement Jewelry 4 Less!!

Statement jewelry is quite the rage this fall and I refuse to pay hundreds of dollars when jewelry has such fast changing styles. There are some things I would splurge on when it comes to timeless jewelry like pearls, but for statement jewelry I'm definitely a bargain hunter. On the right are all pieces that can be found at Forever 21. So cheap, and can I just say I'm loving the huge rings, on the left is jewelry from Nordstroms. Pick your poison ladies.

Military Jacket DIY Tutorial

I'm so glad you guys love the jacket. I must say I rarely find jacket love but I've been wanting a military style jacket for a while and the price of about $2.00 to update a jacket I NEVER wore into something I adore has given me the opportunity to experience the rare Jacket Love. We're in our honeymoonn stage. Going everywhere together, finishing each others sentences, the works. In hopes that you too can find jacket love I bring you the military jacket tutorial.

You'll Need:

A jacket

Gold Paint

Paintbrush

Scissors

Gluegun

3-4 yards of your choice of trim (This is depending on how close together your design is. I used 3 yards.)

1. Paint your buttons. I know mind blown right.

2. On the sleeves glue gun down your straight line, curve the fabric, glue down the curve and then rinse and repeat and then do the other sleeve (no one likes a one sleeved embellished jacket). Also feel free to tack down the embellishment with some hand sewn stitches.

3. Repeat step 2, only don't double glue your sleeves, that would be pointless. Just do the same design on the colar.

I used this outfit to enter a contest. I know what you are thinking and no I'm not one of those people always in a contest, "No I can't go to that movie I have to be the 9th caller and win an I-Pod", I'm not one of those people willingly giving their social security number, phone number, date of birth and a urine sample to win a car at the mall. I'm not the girl that enters every Sally and Susan's blog giveaway so I can get a child's baby bib when I don't even have a child. But yes, I entered a contest. The contest was military style, and if I do say so myself I make one awesome military wearin' contest entering girl. Do you dare to wear military this fall?

I have a secret and it is so good to hear it.... this jacket is tomorrow's DIY tutorial. I know I know I shouldn't wear something before I put up the tutorial. It's like eating dessert first (which I do all the time), or clapping before a performance is over (do that too) don't judge me I'm weak. Anyways, just a little preview for all you DIY lovers.

My family came into town to par-tay and let me tell you when they come to town they really do party, I sleep very little, always end up at Wal-Mart very late in the night and my mom always says at least once, "Dangit Sarah!"Love you mom. I cannot tell a lie....my sister picked out this outfit. Whew I feel much better after getting that off of my chest. This is a secret weapon that I think everyone should have, a handy dandy sister or friend to look at your wardrobe. After seeing the same closet every.single.day. I tend to see the same combinations but a fresh set of eyes really can do wonders for finding a fun new outfit. Thanks Jen! Try it this week!

Thieving Thursday???

Outfit Details:

If I were to get robbed by a sneaky little thief in any outfit it would be this one. No I'm not crazy, I don't want to get robbed...but if I was I really hope I would be in this.

Exhibit A: The pleats on each side allow for optimal movement and very speedy running.

Exhibit B: I look like such the perfect damsel in distress in this.

Exhibit C: I could lasso the thief with my supper long necklace.

Exhibit D: I'm sure my extremely pointy shoes would be useful in convincing the prompt return of my purse.

So I've been having a stupor of thought lately about this blog. I love doing outfit posts and all but is there anything else you guys would like to see? Maybe a look for less, a DIY, fun fall trends, thrift store shopping techniques, how to get a great deal on a pet hampster...okay so I don't know anything about the last one. Leather Cuff DIY

I found this leather cuff at the thrift store for .99 cents and knew I could glam it up a bit! For those of you that don't have a leather cuff to use K-Mart has them for super cheap right now.

You'll Need:

Leather Cuff

Gold Chain

Glue Gun

Pliers or scissors

First take your chain and take off the end clasps.

Then take scissors or pliers and and make three holes on each side of the leather band. Then take the chain and cut it into three separate pieces (measure them so they are the length of the cuff when closed). Then string each piece of chain through the holes and glue them down on the back side of the bracelet. Wa la you have yourself a glammed up bracelet. You could even glam it up a bit more with some charms or vintage pins! Enjoy.

All aboard mateys. There's no more time for you scaliwags to doddle. I'm a sailor because I'm wearing blue and white get it? Never mind the fact that I just used all pirate terminology to convince you that I was a sailor, but can I just say that this skirt never fails me. I roll out of bed and don't know what to wear...blue skirt it is. Sir Matt refuses to wake up and I get dressed in the dark...blue skirt (or at least what I think is a blue skirt, I've ended up trying to fit  a blue pant leg through both of my two legs, just clarifying in case you thought I had three legs or something freaky like that). Matt hides every article of clothing except for my blue skirt...blue skirt it is. Okay so the third never happened but truly once you find that article of clothing that works...don't fix it,  I mean don't break it, I mean (insert clever saying about blue skirt here).

I was walking on my merry way when I saw the chalk drawing as pictured below (look below for picture below)

Right away I thought of the tormented brilliant artist that drew this. I immediately sympathized with how she fights for the right of women to use walkers instead of walking upright. Her message to the young and old will ring freedom through the depths of time...or maybe her message that you should never play the piano without a piano will be heard....or maybe never unpack a box when you have circles for hands. Your message has been heard young Da Vinci.

My pleather skirt couldn't wait to get out of the closet. It shook the closet doors in it's pleathory goodness and hooped around my legs ready for a day out on the town. I think I gave it a pretty good day, stroll in the park with Sir Matt, chit chatting with friends, walking up stairs, skipping up steps. After the day my pleathory promptly thanked me and galloped back to the closet worn out and ready to recooperate. And if any of you really buy that clothes have emotions and feelings than you love clothes a little bit too much...or just have a weird brain that gives inanimate objects feelings. I'm the latter.

I get strange satisfaction out of lots of things. Having the very last milk from the milk carton, watching someone smile to themselves, seeing people fall asleep and lose control of their neck muscles...I'm weird. But  nothing gives me satisfaction like telling people where my clothes were from. I was at GAP shopping for Sir Matt's birthday and a man...let's call him flannel scarf man asked me where my clothes were from. With a clever grin I pronounced, "the thrift store!"Flabbergasted he flipped over the counter, ran through the store clicking his heels and then gave me a hundred dollar gift card to GAP for my thriftiness. Okay so that's just what happened in my mind, nevertheless I felt cool. We're even flannel scarf man, we're even.
