Revival Files: 50's Style Dress

After such a busy weekend I needed to get some serious relaxation going on so you know me...I settled down by sewing my life away. I know, I'm the best at relaxing. I should get an award it'll say "Sarah, a girl who relaxes...by doing lots more work." But hey I totally sewed in my skivies and greasy hair so there's a little bit of freedom and relaxation in there somewhere right.  Yeah, I know, I'm a wild woman. Wild.Woman.

On a completely unrelated subject. Have any of you guys seen the new show Pan Am yet? My eyeballs 'bout exploded from all the visual glory when I saw it. New favorite, and to die for clothes. Oh sweet glory I drooled on the tv screen, and then wiped it up with a napkin because that would be weird if I just left it there...okay I'm tired and starting to say awkward things.

Oh and this revival is in the shop just in case you likey.

oh also also. Do family members that kiss each other on the mouth weird you out as much as it does me? Or am I just a crazy person saying awkward things again. Let's go with I'm just sleep deprived, it makes me less accountable...

  1. No, its weird. No worries. Haha!

That dress however, is fantastic!! I want it! That's incredible what you have done with it. Wow. And I haven't watched pan am. So I'm guessing it's a must see??

  2. It freaks me out too. I have some relatives that go for the mouth kiss and get DENIED and detoured right to the cheek. That's right.

Also Pan Am--don't get me started. Sure, they had to wear girdles that cut off circulation, but they look darn classy.

Also, this dress is yet another revival winner Sarah! Loves it!

  3. I am in love with this dress and your style! You are honestly the classic, wonderful definition of beautiful. Goodness.

And no, it's weird. Family members over the age of five should not kiss each other on the lips. It's awkward. You're not alone.

  4. i usually sew to "relax" also! seems slightly counter-intuitive?

i was all over Pan Am also! can we start wearing white gloves again during the day time? SUCH classiness.

  7. It IS weirdies when family members kiss on the mouth. After about 10 years old it goes from being cute to being weird. Even weirder if you're not parent/child

Love it, another job well done! I particularly love the little bow you've given it at the collar :)

  13. Yes I saw Pan Am, you're right, fab clothes! BTW: love the dress! I also redid a huge dress I found at a garage sale, I posted it today, you should check it out! It's your kind of taste! 50's essence!

  14. It's really weird. I would never kiss anyone on the mouth unless I was 5 years old and it was my mom. It just makes me uncomfortable to see it!

  15. i can't believe how you manage to make such an ugly dress so pretty... it opens my mind up more to all that the thrift stores have to offer... i showed my husband your blog because i bought a huge, ill fitting dress the other day at savers and my husband was pretty sad at my purchase and didn't see the "vision"... after i showed him a few before and after dress photos on your blog he told me to become friends with you, so i can learn to fix my dresses like yours... i told him i knew how to do that, i just didn't think of taking dresses that big and altering them that much... he didn't believe my reassurance and said, "no, you should just become friends with that girl" in a very matter of fact way, ha! apparently he isn't too confident in my sewing skills ;) then again, i have put them on the back burner most our marriage and am just starting to get back into it... anyways, thanks for the sewing ideas and inspiration... and love that you have a shop now, i'm tempted to just buy your creations instead of make my own ;)

  16. After reading your awkward kissing family comment, I just had to show this to you. Kind of extreme, but still funny in a weird way.
